Weekend in Wales

What better way than to take in the sights and smells of spring, than to spend a weekend in the welsh countryside, with 12 of your mates

We stayed in a huge barn, converted into a luxury holiday house. Located in the Gwynedd, just inside the welsh border, there is a a few luxury houses that are made for holiday makers. Check out 'Upper Valley Farm house and Barn' on facebook, or try the website www.uppervalley.co.uk and you'll see what i'm talking about.

The converted barn has 6 large bedrooms with en suits, large kitchen and dinning area, and a really nice open plan, split level lounge/tv area. Outside, there is a decent sized patio area with a few benches, and if you follow the path round you'll find another patio area with a good sized hot tub.

The view from the Barn was incredible, its so nice to wake up and see the Welsh hills with the sun shining down, and the sheep and lambs walking about only feet away from the barn.

Below is a break down of what we did:

We all met up at a local cafe, with our bags and booze, had a quick drink and we set off just about 2pm. The drive took about 2 hours, and was a fairly pleasant drive, no issues. When we arrived at Upper Valley, we opened the gate, and drove up the long windy drive up to the Farm house.

We organised a big food and drink delivery to arrive so we weren't waiting too long to relax, Friday night was fairly chilled, drinks, games and great food . Luckily we had a wonderful cook with us, Kat was in charge of the food, so everyone gave a helping hand were we could.

Saturday was incredibly fun, we went mountain biking! We went to one planet adventure, which is bases in the Llandegla forest. As this was my first time, i hired the bike and helmet. The hire equipment only costed £25 for the day, and there was no entrance fee to the trails, so making this a free day out if you already have your bike. After a few mins getting used to the double suspensions and extra thick tyres, i was ready to go.

To get to the fun downhill trails, it meant us completing a long windy ascent up the mountain. This wasn't as taxing as you would think, and well worth it. Once we got to the top, i was feeling confident so kept up with the better and more experienced ones in the group. All my time skiing through trees and at high speeds definitely made me comfortable with this part of the bike trails.

Think i've found a new Hobby

Saturday night, we got back showered and some jumped in the hot tub with a few drinks, not a bad way to chill out. Later on we had another amazing meal and plenty of drinking games, and all round good fun

Sunday was a free day, some nursed hangovers, some played games, some went for walks, but we all enjoyed the wonderful Barn conversion and welsh hills. We all had a massive fry up that was much needed after tiring day. Some of the group left on Sunday, due to work commitments etc

The 5 of us that were left, had a nice meal, and a chilled couple of drinks.

We had a lay in, clean up and had a gentle drive home

A Great weekend
